We read the ingredients on the bottle of soy sauce and it had the same ingredients that the La Choy does. So we bought the generic. So I assume that since they had the same then the generic is the same is that true?

Nope! How do you know the generic version has good labeling practices? What about cross contamination? Your best bet is to always contact the manufacturer directly.
