On my list of foods I can't eat are: Tree nuts, peanuts, soy, dairy, corn (tried this last night and it gave me hives/itchy eyes), wheat or gluten (still trying to figure this one out) & chicken.
I figure I can eat fruits & veggies, with some beef/pork thrown in once in a while for good measure. It seems like I'm always eating the same stuff and there is nothing "easy" to grab now unless I want raw fruits/veggies.
Anyone else dealing with the same allergies that I am and can share meal/snack ideas?
Thanks! |

Have you talked to your dietician or allergist about disgusting hypoallergenic nutritional suppliments? If your diet is too restricted they can be a real life saver-if you can manage to choke them down.
They're better cold. Very cold. And it helps if you also have a cold so as not to smell them.
Your doc would have more info. And don't bother with the flavor packets, they do not help.
Hmmm...somehow I don't think I should be the spokesperson for hypoallergenic suppliments... |

My diet consist of chicken, occasionally fish, green beans, peas, carrots, apples, peaches, pears, and almonds. It's a very limited diet, but I have finally made peace with peace with the knowledge that I eat to live, I do not live to eat. Too many people spend their lives worried about what to eat next, life isn't about food, it's about living. Finally, on this diet, I am living a fairly normal life again, it's worth it. One good part of all this, I actually do like the food I eat, not that I wouldn't love to have more in my diet, but I can deal with what I have too. _________________ You can't discover new oceans unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore! |

In looking at your list of intolerance, it strikes me that you may not be consuming enough protein. That is a surefire way to be hungry. Maybe you could keep some quick and easy protein sources around the house to help satisfy you. Some examples could include:
-Pumpkin seeds
-Sunflower seeds
-Beans - garbanzo beans for a quick bean salad, hummus, refried beans with corn-free chips for dipping
-Sunbutter with celery sticks
-Smoothies made from fruit, ice cubes, your favorite non-milk liquid or some DF yogurt. Maybe throw in some flax seeds or chia seeds for fiber to keep you satisfied longer. _________________ -Colleen

What about other meats? Vension, buffalo?
Chicken is out, but what about other poultry? Turkey, pheasant, duck, grouse?
I don't do well eating turkey from the grocery store, even the turkey that's labeled gluten-free. We get ours fresh from a local turkey farm and nothing is added to it. I can't have any of the meats at the grocery store with any "flavoring solution" added.
If you can have potatoes, there's alot you can do with them.
Gluten-free pasta made of rice gives you more options, too. _________________ Wheat-free and egg-free since 10/1999.

I can eat chicken, but not turkey, it has too much fat in it, as does pheasant, duck, and goose. All of the wild poultry is mostly dark meat. I also can not eat venison, beef, or pork, all red meats are out.
Then, there is the nighthade intolerance, no potatoes, no peppers, so eggplant, all favorites of mine. I too, am grain free.
Sometimes, the best foods for us are all natural, whole foods, not processed. Fresh fruits, not canned with sugar or sweeteners. I eat only fresh or frozen veggies, haven't had anything out of a can for months and months. _________________ You can't discover new oceans unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore! |
