Hi. I received some Mary's Gone Crackers in various flavors. I think they are okay plain but difficult to eat more than one or two; they really need a good accompaniment to be really good.
Any suggestions?
I discovered that the Herb flavor is great with a spreadable chevre goat cheese.
I tried the black pepper with tuna, but it was just okay. |

Have you tried hummus? I like them with a little dab of hummus... _________________ ~Torrey

Nooooooooooo, bad juju. I was so sick after eating those.
My accompaniment would be the trash can. _________________ Ostrich :>--O==={

My samples tasted very burned and nasty. The texture was so hard that I nearly broke a tooth as well. Then we get down to the fact that, for me, they were overly spicy. My biggest impression was the burned taste. I'm glad that they were a free sample and I didn't have to put money out for them.

| I like to put cheese on them and put them in the microwave. When the cheese melts, it makes the crackers a little easier to chew. |

Yeah, I found the original and herb are the best. I didn't enjoy black pepper. Hummus would be good with the original, I'd bet. The chevre did make the herb flavor a nice snack.
I was wondering what would happen if one layered them in a pie pan and made some sort of savory dinner with them, like a quiche or maybe like a creamy chicken casserole? I am trying to avoid hard cheese, so I haven't worked this out.
I feel healthy eating those crackers, and they are such a different flavor and consistency that it bring a welcome variation to the pallet.
I was just thinking maybe they could be a GF substitution to Wasa crackers, in a sense? I used to eat rye wasa crackers with hummus, cayenne, and sesame seeds. Maybe these could be used instead, like the second poster suggested? |
