| Good answer. I guess the meat has to be organic or it may have chemical residues like growth hormones. Bird meat has shown to be protective then cow, goat etc meat. There is some info in pubmed with this regard. |

Well, I guess it depends on wether you can get it/pay for it or not
Ideally, we should eat meat from unstressed animals living in their natural habitats, but that's a pretty far from the truth nowadays. So then it becomes a matter of compensating or avoiding.
The sad fact is, the food that we are genetically best adapted to is simply no longer available. We now have different foods that are grown to optimize sales, not health. The only way out of this is to make everyone aware that our current food makes us sick so that we can change things for the better. |

My husband and I have been shopping at farmers' markets all summer. We have been able to buy organically raised, grass-fed, pastured, beef, chickens, pork, and even goat meat (which by the way is delicious.) We have also been eating many heirloom vegetables and fruits, as well as raw milk, farm fresh eggs, and artisanal cheeses.
While the food is a bit more expensive than most grocery store offerings, the flavor is amazing! One interesting observation I have made is that I am eating far less than I used to, so our actual grocery bill has hardly changed at all. I think the food is so much more nutritious, that my body is satisfied sooner, because it's getting the nutrients it needs. Also, since eating this way, we have cut out all junk foods, which are expensive, especially when you consider that they are essentially devoid of all nutrients. I've always found it interesting that people I've known would not buy something like some fresh berries because they are expensive, yet think nothing of buying a bag of chips, or a candy bar. If you ever look at the unit pricing of any of those items, the berries would win by a mile.
Wmertens- I started the paleo/primal thread in the general section of the board. Please jump in and contribute! _________________ Steph |

Again good answer!! I fully agree to you but I was informed that; due to the increase in the population of the world, it is not easy to feed them all by naturally grown products, so, non-natural methods are the need of the day cause they are cheap. |

@ celiac maine: How often do you consume raw milk? do you not get sick after having raw milk? |

I think no-one has the answer for that one. The human body is amazingly complex, but we keep hammering away at the biochemistry and perhaps one day we'll know exactly what signals to monitor and what supplements to give so that we can lead a long, healthy life on nothing but beans and water + flavorings? Granted, that doesn't sound very appealing, but it would solve that problem. And since we'd be 100% healthy, perhaps we wouldn't care.
In the mean time, I like the fact that all the people eating low-fat frankenfoods make my animal fats and coconut milk cheaper
Now let's move this discussion to the one celiacmaine-iac made. |
