Have you guys tried the WF gluten free baked goods? I think they are new. I tried the cheddar cheese biscuits; regular buns. Both were great. Looks like they have a lot to choose from. The taste was flat out normal and good.

They were packaged and refrigerated. I kept half in the fridge and half frozen. Even thawed and toasted, the cheese biscuits were great. Not soggy; no crumbling

I hope they will catch on and the price will come down some.

We've had the WF baked goods for awhile, so I'm not sure how new they are. I'm fond of the cookies and muffins/rolls.

I agree--they're stuff *is* good, but because of the high prices ($6 for a loaf of sandwich bread!), I don't buy it all that often.
I really like the Prairie Bread, the Honey Oat Bread, and the cookies, too. I tried the Sourdough Bread recently, but I didn't like it...the flavor was off a little bit...

I tried the cheddar biscuits a little while back and really liked them. They reminded me of the cheddar biscuits they serve at Red Lobster. (Being from New England, that was about all I liked at RL...)

Their baked goods have been around for a while, but maybe not in all markets. They used to be in the freezer section in my local store, but have moved closer to the bakery. I have tried the sandwich bread, but since I've been pregnant, I haven't been able to eat it. The taste is off for me for some reason. I also liked the cranberry orange scones. (Needed a glaze, but other than that, yummy!)

We've had a few things. They were good, but much too expensive for frequent consumption.

I agree with Colleen and Torrey. Their food tends to be too expensive for me to buy frequently. For example, the only time I really buy things like rolls is for holiday meals.

It is VERY expensive - I've been trying to bake more at home and occasionally getting something from the WF bakery. (Like when I'm waddling around WF and a MAJOR baked goods craving hits...that's not too often though) Wink

I've noticed that the best things are super expensive, like wf baked goods and the crackers from Outside the Bread Box. Do the ingredients really cost so much more than flour, or are they charging more because they have a dependent customer base?

It can't be cc concerns, because some expensive suppliers are dedicated facilities.

My guess would be that the costs go towards development. It seems like it takes a bit of work to make a delicious GF product.

You're also paying for the name. Remember, their bakery is part of Whole Foods, also known as Whole Paycheck. Wink

Towards development, that makes sense.

There are development costs, the costs of a dedicated facility, the costs of sourcing special ingredients, etc. Also, they are producing them on a much smaller scale, so they cannot take advantage of the "economies of scale" like they could if they were producing them for a much larger population.

As much as I try to convince myself otherwise, though, I think a lot of GF products are expensive because manufacturers know we'll pay. Sad

So expensive...but everything I have tried I liked! I love the ginger molasses cookies. The pie crusts are good too- I'm not great at pastry making.
