I am unable to find Progresso Creamy Mushroom soup in my area (East Texas). I've ordered it through the internet, but with shipping, I end up paying around $8 per can!

I'm going to New Orleans in a couple of weeks. I've heard that this soup is sold east of the Mississippi (or maybe I dreamed it). Can anyone give me a list of stores in the New Orleans area that carries this brand? I'd like to load up on a couple of cases.

Also, if anyone can recommend any restaurants familiar with our g/f requests, that information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much! Very Happy

Hi GFforMe,

Welcome to the board!

Sorry you're having trouble finding this. Sad

You might check out General Mill's Product Locator. You can enter a zipcode, a product type and a product. I selected Progresso and typed in mushroom. The actual name of the soup is Vegetable Classics Creamy Mushroom Soup.

If you can't find Progresso, there's also Healthy Valley Organic Creme Mushroom Soup. Healthy Valley is a Hain Celestial Group product - this means they will disclose gluten on their ingredient labels.

It may not help you on trip, but if you need to make cream of ________ soup, please check out TEC's Creamed Soup or Canned Soup Replacement

You might check out this info about New Orleans. Be aware - it appears to be 3 years old.

Here's some more:
http://www.celiacfoodreviews.com/2007/03/new-orleans-gluten-free-style.html
http://www.casamentosrestaurant.com/menu/menu.html - this place sound interesting simply because they say they're fried seafood is GF. One important question to ask them: Do they use a dedicated deep fryer for said GF items. If they fry GF items in oil that fries non-GF items - it's contaminated.

Good luck in your search!! Have a safe trip to New Orleans!
