I still have gas. So I have been trying an experiment that failed horribly today. Usually I drink a lot of Crystal light drinks all day long. So in reading here I found that some poeple react to artificial sweetner so I stopped using artificial sweetners. I also usually have for breakfast every morning a can of fruit and either cottage cheese or yogurt and a slice of gf bread toasted. today I left off the dairy. as soon as I was finished with the fruit which happened to be pineapple today, my stomache started to feel funny. Where I say I failed was I had chili with beans for lunch (oh well) so much for experiments. I am wondering now, if the fruit could be the culprit?? Does anyone have any ideas?? It's not always pineapple, sometimes fruit cocktail, peaches, pears, in light syrup. _________________ GF BD 1/4/2008

I've met a lot of celiacs that have bad reactions or are full blow allergic to pineapple. Not sure if that's the connection for you but maybe avoid it for awhile and see how you do. _________________ Cheers!

MrP tested postive to being allergic to pineapple. Now that we know he has a problem with salicylates, the only fruit that he can eat are pears and bananas.
Are you allergic to corn? Artificial sweetners have corn in them. _________________

I can't eat alot of fruit, especially things that are highly acidic (oranges). It makes my stomach all bubbly. _________________ Ostrich :>--O==={

Hmmm, you guys have given me great ideas. the fruit I eat most are the citrusy fruits. I will definitly stay away from those for a while and see if that helps and I will also stay away from the artificial sweetners too. today so far so good. I had eggs and bacon for breakfast today. and so far no bubbles. Hooray! NO CHILI for lunch today. Thanks for the ideas. _________________ GF BD 1/4/2008

Sometimes I think I shouldn't come to this site..... Everytime I get on I read about another thing that I can't have. I am just a little depressed because I am having a hard time eating anything. I seem to be allergic to everything and then add artificial sweetners into the mix and I am out of options. I live on chicken and pork and can eat fruit and green beans. Well at least I have dropped 30 pounds in 10 weeks since I started cutting out anything that I was allergic to as well as following the South Beach guidelines. Ok I promise I am not going to be depressed the rest of the day... Only positive thoughts ! |

I know exactly what you mean. I am trying not to be allergic to corn. I will try everything first before that. I have been reading the stories of people who have corn allergies and that has to be worse than gluten because corn really is in everything. I pray everyday that corn is not the problem. _________________ GF BD 1/4/2008

I pray that you do not have the corn allergy as well! I admit, when I read the list and started learning what all corn was actually in, I sat at the computer and cried!!!
It has been about 18 months corn free for MrP. (I can cheat some, but I can't digest the veggie of corn.......go figure.) Anyway, now that I am past the shock of the first few months, it is lots better and is a doable, it is a lot to learn, but if you do find that is your problem, rest assured that there are worst things in life and living corn free is not so bad.
There are just a lot of hidden things for the corn. That is the hard part to learn.
If you do find it is a prob. please let me know and I will try to fill in the holes and help you limp along. _________________
