hey everybody! im going on a week long trip to Costa Rica (youth group missions trip) in 2 weeks and i have the obvious problem of "what do i eat while im there?" im currently reacting really badly to gluten (duh!), fruit (weird, i know!), vinegar, yeast, corn, and dairy (even lactose-free milk) and i was wondering if anybody has any tips on what the airlines will let me bring and what they might have there.
thank you!

I strongly suggest that you get a letter from your dr. stating that you have multiple food allergies and need to have your own foods with you. (This is what I did when traveling to Germany. I will see how well it goes on the way home on Thursday)

I had cereals packed in my bags, some flours, snacks and in the carry on, I had snacks, candy and some fruit and cheese.

Dummy me, did not think that I would not be able to eat anything that they served on the plane. Shocked I was starving for meat. (the Kosher meal that I ordered had meat, but had a Kosher GRAVY all over it. WHEAT of course.)

Going back, I am making 2 sandwiches to have to eat when the meal is served.

Contact the airline that you are flying with and see what foods are allowed. You also might want to contact customs and see what they will allow you to bring into the country.

Have you tried APPLE vinegar? The white vinegar I think is corn based. (with dealing with so many allergies, I am getting muddled on the salicylate and the corn.) With the fruit and vinegar I am thinking you may be headed down the road to a reaction to salicylates.

Do you react to bananas? pears? (those are the only 2 that MrP can eat due to the salicylates.)

I would take rice! and possibly milk that is GF (rice, or soy)

VITAMINS! and medications that you are currently taking should be carried only in the RX bottles.

If there are any instant meals that you can just add water to those would be good to pack in your suitcases. (I found some from India and some Asian meals at Whole Foods, but silly me..........I left those out of my carry on. LOL)

I hope that you have a safe and enjoyable mission!

Are you using probiotics and digestive enzymes? These have helped me "tolerate" many foods that were becoming irritating.
