Colleen,
Glad to hear the corn dog splurge was worth breaking the budget. Perhaps overpriced corn dogs could become your nasty little habit...much like the Mega Size M&Ms hidden in my t-shirt drawer. Corn dog + mustard = mouth watering!
Al,

Yes, Hebrew National are GF. They are a ConAgra product, and will specifically list gluten containing ingredients within the ingredient list - anything containing wheat, rye, barley, oats, or vinegar. |

Colleen,
I ran into a grocery store that I don't normally frequent and was looking at the frozen gluten-free products when I spotted the GF corn dogs. Had you not mentioned them I might have been able to avoid the temptation. Alas, you did and I didn't. The brand is S'Better Farms. Five corn dogs set me back $7.99, but I'm not complaining...just relaying facts.
I just finished eating one and was quite pleased. I defrosted it in the microwave and baked it at 350*F on the convection setting in the oven for about 8 minutes. The outside was crunchy; the inside was soft and airy; the dog had good flavor. I think there must be a little sugar in the batter because they leave a slightly sweet aftertaste. It was delicious...the perfect midnightish snack.
I'll be lucky if the rest of them last throughout the weekend. |

Sadly, our WF doesn't carry any corn dogs, GF or otherwise. So I wasn't able to try them out.
On the positive side, they just started carrying Lara Bars. I haven't tried them yet, but I don't think I'll be buying them often. 210 calories per bar?? _________________ Ostrich :>--O==={

TEC - I am so glad I could lead you into corn dog temptation. Mine reminded me of being a kid again. School lunch only better. Isn't it funny what will make us happy? _________________ -Colleen

It is funny! My mom was sort of crunchy when we were growing up. When we were at fairs, carnivals and such we could get a corn dog and then split a bag of cotton candy. One big cone of cotton candy has only 1 teaspoon of sugar. My mom considered it the best of the bad. That corn dog took me back my childhood--thanks. |

Os, I didn't get them at Whole Foods. I got them at a store called Meijer.
As far as Lara Bars, they are high caloric but they are very filling. Perfect food for a meal on the fun and have fewer calories than most candy bars. |

Update to this: our local WF now carries GF chicken nuggets and corn dogs. So...very...yummy! _________________ Ostrich :>--O==={

Bumping this thread to add this brand "S'Better farms Beef Corn Dogs"
http://www.sbetterfarms.com/kosheerbeefcorndogs.php
Yes these were pricey but like Colleen's OP they're a treat and won't be eaten all the time. Also, my DS is the ONLY one in the house who eats them. I got a little taste of the batter after I had to mush it back onto the dog in a place or two where it was coming off and it tastes pretty sugary and that explains why my DS LOVES them. I've never been a corndog fan myself but some of y'all may wish to check these out sometime. _________________ son - high ttg - 4/09, pos. biopsy 5/09
