I am going to go eat a wheat free banana blueberry muffin and rethink my strategy.

Just a reminder for those that maybe new to this...wheat free does not always mean gluten free.

Wheat free is wheat free (if wheat is the only thing in the item, then it's GF too) Smile

Gluten free is wheat free, barley free, rye free, and oat free

This is easy to get caught on when starting out.

Enjoy your muffin!! YUM!!

It took me a while to figure out the wheat free/ gluten free difference. Thank you for your concern. My muffins are homemade from corn starch, potato starch and chick pea flour. I keep them in the freezer so I always have a good snack on hand.
I have to ask you another question about cheating. If I have a bite of pasta at the Italian Fest is that equally bad? Please forgive me but I am trying to see how far I have to go. I get the acupressure with the idea that it doesn't hurt me to eat a little wheat. So I have not worried in the past about a bite here or there and if there is a bit of wheat in a salad dressing or such. After our conversation I am thinking that those days are over.

Hi Steph,

Yeah...sorry to say...gluten free is like it sounds...free of gluten. All forms of it. There is no cheating when it comes to the GF diet (GFD). It's not like a diabetic diet where it can be balanced out during the day. Even a tiny crumb can keep your body's immune response fired up and doing damage. The levels of gluten free food testing goes down to parts per million!

If you haven't seen it, you might check out Our Thread on GF Diet Boot Camp. This will give you the basics, enough to get you started.

I hope you come to the realization that cheating will only lead to problems and rob you of your health [it sounds like you are]. You are the only one that can make this decision, all we can do is give you facts as we see them. We don't make up rules, we just figure out how to play by them Smile

You already have some of the tricks figured out - like having GF goodies at hand and it easy reach!! Smile

I don't know who's telling you that, but Al's right, your days of eating gluten (in all forms) are now over. Sad Even a tiny bit can lead to internal damage and cancer. I don't know about you, but a bite of anything isn't worth that risk!

Thanks for the input and the new website. I will do more research tonight.
It is nice to talk to people who know all about GF.
