Here's how I make Tater tot casserole:

1 to 1 1/2 lbs hamburger (ground chuck)
1 medium onion-diced
1/4 to 1/2 cup chopped green or yellow pepper
1 18 oz can Progresso cream of mushroom soup
1 16 oz bag of mixed vegetable (corn, peas, green beans or vegie of your choice)
1 bag Ore-Ida tater tots
Salt and pepper to taste

Brown hamburger with onion and pepper. Season to taste. Mix in soup and frozen vegetables. Pour mixture into a greased 8x11 pan. Top with tater tots (as many as you like). Bake at 350 degrees for 50-60 minutes until tater tots are golden brown.

Hi TJ,

I'll pass the Thanks on to Peg. She posted it Smile Hope you like the Tater Tot dish. It's one of my favs!!

Yup - I saw it!! I'll have to beg Peg to make me some soon. I'm still eating Molasses cookies she made for me right before Christmas Smile
With Progresso Soup, you can read the labels to find out.

I also get Roasted Chicken w/ Wild Rice and Chicken with Rice.

This is from Delphi's Soup list

Progresso (800-200-9377) (7/07/04) (www.generalmills.com)
All ingredients will be listed on the label because their recipes might change. Ingredients will be clearly labeled "wheat,

barley or rye" and not hidden. Tomato products are made on totally separate lines from the soups (which contain gluten)

Progresso "New" "Rich & Hearty New England Clam Chowder" chunky style (VP-8/24/04) gluten free. Caution! their "Traditional

New England Clam Chowder" is NOT gluten free.

Al. Are Ore-Ida tater tots GF? I was just thinking of those today for my son but don't recall them being on the last GF list I have gotten from Heinz.

I'M NOT GOING CRAZY!!!!!! WhooHooo!!!

This is from my post on Dec 21st. Someone on another boards posted info they received from Heinz:

**Some Oreida potato products (french fries and tatertots).

The last I knew (and as the website shows), tatertots are not listed as GF. Have you verified this? It's be great if they were!! It's funny, because if you read the ingredients, they look GF (from what I remember). But for some reason, Oreida does not list them as GF. I saw one time that the 50lb bag was GF, but not the smaller size (it was listed by UPC label).

Heinz is a GF friendly company, so I'm not sure what the deal is with tatertots...

http://www.oreida.com/quicktipsfaqs/glutenfree.aspx

UPDATE: I just found this...they have a new list. They are GF!!!

I just received the attached list of Gluten Free products from Heinz. The last bottle of Heinz 57 I purchased said "Allergens: Soy" so I thought gluten had been removed. I think not, but wanted to pass this along. Odd, their Organic Ketchup is not gluten free.

Al. You are correct. Not that I doubted you. I wanted to get an up to date GF list from them which I obviously don't have. All varieties are GF.

No...you were absolutely right to question it!!! As you can see, I questioned it too!! Because the last I knew they were NOT GF.

I tried very hard not to say something is GF when I don't know for sure. I always try to double and triple check my info. Since I wasn't finding ANY info of what I was stating...I thought I was losing my mind!!!!

My three newphews are coming over for a week as their Dad is having his colon removed due to ulcertive colonitis. I think the tatertot recipe will be a hit and maybe even fill them up! His surgery is Wednesday the 10th at 2:00 pm. It will be a five hour procedure. Send up your prayers and positive thoughts for Danny and my sister's whole family Thanks

I thought I'd post this here too. I learned this info while investigating OreIda's Crispy Crowns labeling issue.

Quote:
OreIda is revamping their GF labeling policies/procedures/practices. Want to know what the #1 type of phone calls they receive? GLUTEN! I don't doubt that one bit!, this is not the 1st mfg that has said this. They are listening and want to better serve us.

I asked about their allergen labeling practices - do they disclose barley, rye and oats? The rep stated they follow the FDA guidelines to the letter. However, barley, rye and oats do not legally have to be disclosed according to the FDA FALCPA law. She did inquire about the oats. I gave her a quick primer on oats and why commercial oats are not considered GF. Smile I also told her that other companies do disclose barley, rye and oats voluntarily and that it helps us make wise food choices. Who's product are we going to buy first? The one makes it easier for us of course! Wink

Another helpful tid-bit of info. If you look at the manufacturing code by the UPC label - this will tell you where the product was packaged/processed. You want to look for the letters "ON" - signifies Ontario Idaho. This is the main office/plant for OreIda. Why is this significant? That plant has dedicated lines solely for their gluten products. Any non-gluten products are run on different lines. Not all of their plants or co-packers have this set up. She did state that they do have stringent cleaning procedures in place for the locations that do run both GF and NGF products on shared equipment. I asked if they test their final product - she did not know the exact answer.
