My husband and I do try to cook and make food we like in their gluten free form. He even got me Xantham Gum for Christmas, something that is hard to find in my neck of the woods. Tonight we made pancakes, and they actually tasted like pancakes!
We've had our hits and misses with gluten free cooking--we've perfected our pancake recipe, but we tried to make donuts once and they came out like bricks.
For me... I don't know, it'd just be nice to order in sometimes! When I lived in Oklahoma the local restaurants eventually got used to me, but I haven't had the same luck since I've moved. We are a military family stationed in the middle of nowhere right now, and my husband has a weakness for eating out, so we do that a lot and he's very keen that anywhere we go has gf options. That's usually our date nights, otherwise I'm the one cooking because he worked all day and blahblahblah... But I think I'll try to incorporate some gf cooking nights in there... At the very least, it's adventurous!
celiacmaine-iac: I would LOVE if you posted your sweet and sour pork recipe. |
My hubby is retired navy. I know how isolated some postings can be. Thank the Lord for the internet and being able to order ingredients that you need. (You might could speak with the local commissary manager about getting certain items in for you to meet your dietary needs since this is health related.)
If you go to the recipe section. I know that my yeast doughnut recipe is over there and possibly a cake like doughnut. (I have not had a failure with either of the recipes that I use.) If you can't find the cake doughnut recipe, let me know and I will type it up for you. _________________
