|
|
Hello,
I was recently diagnosed with Celiac and have been going through the house and being to separate all the gluten and non-gluten items. So far, I have found a few websites that are helpful and well one or two stores in my local area that actually carry gluten free products is not too bad. We have been able to find out if most of products are gluten free or not via web sites or contacting the companies, however I have has a issue with one companies answers to that I assumed simple question. I am hoping that if I post the items and the ingredients, I might be able to get a better answer if this is something that I can still eat or if I am going to have to find a new brand and well if I have to find a new brand, maybe if I could get a recommendation.
Blueberry Jam:
- Blueberries
- Sugar
- Pectin
- Citric Acid
- Sodium Benzoate
Wild Lingenberry Jam:
- Cranberries
- Sugar
- Pectin
- Citric Acid
- Sodium Benzoate
Sourdough Sauce:
- Cranberry Pulp
- Apple Sauce
- Sugar
- Vinegar
- Onions
- Spices
Here is a copy of the email we received back, after sending a question off there website since it had no information. I can understand that there are going to be things that I am not going to be able to eat and I might like it, but I have accepted it. I just have a issue with the response since I feel that companies should know and be able to let there customers know what there products contain.
Hopefully someone on here will have a better answer then the one they gave.
CJ

I have received some of your products as a gift and I was just wondering are the preserves gluten free. Also we do like the company is it possible for you to send a list of your Gluten Free products as well.
Thank you,
.

Hi,
Most of our products contain some form of gluten and unfortunately I do not have a list of items that do not contain any. I am not 100% sure, but we use pectin in our preserves and that may contain gluten. I am sorry I am not much help with your request.
Thank you for your inquiry and I hope you have a great day!

Hello and welcome to the board.
If it was me I would not use these products. I don't see anything that screams gluten but anytime a company makes a statement that they think their products contain gluten or they just don't know I boycott them. There are enough other companies out there that are safe to use, and want our business and I try to give my business to them.
I generally use Smuckers, I've also used Polaner but they all state they have added fiber now and I haven't checked into them lately.
I would recommend you start by looking at the sticky sections at the top of each topic. There you will find answers to many of your questions. You can also search for specific items and you may find answers that way. _________________ CD by Biopsy 3/25/88 |
