|
|
I have not eaten gluten products for about a month now and have been keeping a food diary to know which foods I am sensitive to. But when I get an attack, it is not gluten that gets to me - it is the food intolerances that sneak up and do you in!
I had been eating gluten free chocolate cake (without soy or fructose) and I did great with it.
I had been eating cereal with Silk vanilla almond milk and did great with it.
But then, I bought a half gallon of chocolate almond milk by Silk - made sure there was no soy in it and alias I had been having attacks of diarrhea for the past two days. I just don't get it - Why did it seem okay to have the chocolate cake and to have the almond milk - but the combination really was a disaster??

You need to look and see if the MILK was made totally pure. (meaning no cross contamination issues.)
It could be a preservative, vitamins added, it could even be the paper container if you have trouble with corn.
(I have even seen paper plates that are made from wheat.)
It is the little things that sometimes get us.
I hope you can figure it out soon. _________________

The chocolate almond milk is by Silk the same milk I use in my cereal. Granted, some of the contents with the added chocolate are not the same as the Vanilla but it is the same manufacturer |

| Maybe the chocolate that they added to the almond milk had cc. It does get complicated trying to figure this stuff out. |

I tried the Silk almond milk and really wanted it to be good to me but I can't drink it either. I ended up pouring out most of a carton of it. I can't seem to pull up the ingredients on the web however and I can't remember if there was something in particular I thought I couldn't tolerate in it. I eat almonds so those are not an issue. _________________ son - high ttg - 4/09, pos. biopsy 5/09

I have tried a few flavors of Silk and can't quite get used to the taste. Maybe it's just me, I dunno. _________________ <3 Erica

Or keep an eye on your fat intake and see if the "food intolerance" isn't actually pancreatic insufficency.
Or dumping syndrome, which can be triggered by sweet liquids (is the chocolate milk higher in sugar than the vanilla?)
So many "fun" things to consider |

I don't have any problems with any of the Silk products. I love their Plain Almond milk. It must be an individual problem. _________________ Judy |
