Oz - sorry about DH's Aunt and especially young cousin. My condolences. ((hugs))
Steph - Congrats on the grandchild! Hope we can see some pictures of your quilts this summer! I just started a Dear Jane. I think I must be insane.  
Al - Hope Lily did well!
All the California travelers - I hope you have a wonderful and exciting time!
GFPBear - So sorry to hear about your Mom.
Laura - Sorry to hear that you had to give up running. Would swimming be better since it's a "no stress" form of exercise?
Colleen - What is it with toddlers and condiments? Sophie loves Katsup and Ranch Dressing and won't touch much of anything else.  But like yours, she's growing and that's what's important. BTW the raspberries look awesome!
Connie - It sounds like Ina is doing really well! I hope she wins!
Manda - Congrats on the new house and hope the birth goes smoothly!
As for me? I quit my job. Woot! Maybe horrible timing with the "not-a-recession-recession" we're in but we planned for a few months by refinancing our house and creating a livable budget and socking away some extra funds (just in case). So on the whole I feel really good about our decision. Our main reason was to the benefit of our daughter who we've been shuffling around to my Mom's and Sister's for two years now for daycare. She really does better with more parental one on one time. I of course am *loving* being a SAHM. It's awesome especially with the summer weather we're (finally) getting!
Doing okay on GF front (haven't been glutened in ages) still having a harder time with the other allergies. I miss dairy and eggs. Hopefully overcoming the rice allergy but still get kind ill if I eat too much of it.

We have had a rather cool summer here. A few hot days, but not like what one would expect for July. Evenings my boys play outside in quilted flannels!
Colleen, Sarah looks just like you! She's precious. My 3 year old thinks ketchup is to be eaten with a spoon. I don't know what it is about the condiments, but at least he cleans his plate of his food so he can have seconds on ketchup!! Blech!
Haven't had problems with gluten, but seem to have developed another intolerance during this pregancy. I have not figured it out yet - I'm hoping it will go away after the baby is delivered.

You are brave!!! I think I have all 2 blocks of my Dear Jane that I did at a guild meeting tucked away somewhere. However, I'm starting to think about doing a Baltimore Album quilt, so I guess quilting insanity comes in all shapes and sizes!

Oh I love the Baltimore Album quilts! I just don't have that much experience with applique. Guess Jane will teach me though. ...and aren't you the pot calling the kettle black! I wish you much luck with your BAQ. Show us pictures when you get around to it!

Love your blog, and especially LOVE the layout for your DJ quilt. I like that you are doing something different from the traditional 1800's repros.

The getting around to it is the next hurdle! Whoever said that life gets less hectic when the chicks leave the nest? As for the picture end of it....I'll try, but I was definitely born in the wrong century. I'll probably have to enlist the help of one of my techie daughters.

I wonder what it is they're putting in ketchup these days, my grandson (28 months) eats the ketchup and leaves the rest as well. Today he decided to finger paint the office with it as well but that's another story.

Tangent Rant Alert!
What's in ketchup? High fructose corn syrup. I'm not a ketchup kind of girl but needed some for a recipe and could only find one type that didn't have HFCS as an ingredient. Apple sauce is also loaded with HFCS, but it's easier to find an all natural variety. Lots of prepared marinara-type sauces also have it.

Ketchup w/out HFCS - Whole Foods brand is without, I believe. I am slowly weeding all the HFCS and sugars that end with "tol" out of my household. I can't even ANY gum anymore because of the "tol" sugars.

I want that t-shirt Colleen but I'm not sure I would wear it.
I will acknowledge that many a times I am responsible for tangents. A few interesting threads immediately come to mind. CD=chronically distracted. I have a couple of friends who claim that I suffer from ADD. I think they're mistaken, but what do I know.
Nanc...well done on removing the 'bad stuff' from your kitchen. I bet it's a lot harder to do with kids around. |
