I have quite a list of intolerances (IgG reactive foods include wheat, gluten, buckwheat, corn, millet, coconut, garlic, eggs and a few others) as well as allergies I seem to have developed over the last three years.
When I got the results of my IgG tests I realised the foods listed were those which had caused me problems and I had already stopped eating a lot of them. It was suggested in the booklets I got with my results that I should cut out the worst first so I started with egg, wheat, gluten, garlic but didn't worry too much about buckwheat as I can't remember eating it before
I went away with the family last weekend and as DD seems to be wheat intolerant too we bought a pack of wheat/gluten free bread to take with us. What I didn't realise at first was that it had buckwheat as an ingredient and it was only when I began to suffer symptoms that I checked (I've only been doing this two weeks ) but still didn't think too much about it and had a couple of slices the next day.
What I didn't expect was to suddenly find myself in absolute agony with stomach cramps, D, almost passing out, not able to see properly and with limbs like a rag doll. DD told me my face and lips were white and she and DH were about to cart me off to ER but fortunately after half an hour I started to recover. I had a sore stomach for a couple of days after and was shaky and pale for a few hours
My diary makes interesting reading for those few days and I can see the build up, but I suddenly twigged about the buckwheat when I read it is the same family as rhubarb I had a bad reaction to a rhubarb yogurt a few months ago but thought it was because it was acidic.
OMG what an lesson
Instead of cuting out a few of the IgG reactive foods I have eliminated all those I react to, I figure if I do that now I may be able to tolerate some of them in the future, otherwise I worry I may just become even more sensitive to the ones I am 'borderline' to as well. Not sure if this is the right way to go but to be honest I am so scared of ever feeling that way again
Has anyone else experienced anything like this?
