Hey everyone!
Well, we heard back from Matthew's Pediatrician today, and we are going to go ahead with the Genetic testing. I have heard wonderful things of this sort of testing, so God willing, we'll get the answers we're looking for.
In addition to the genetic testing, she is going to repeat the R.A.S.T. blood allergy testing for dairy and anything else that may show up. I have to say, I don't have much faith in this sort of testing. He's had it I believe 3 or 4 times and 1/2 of the time it came back positive for Dairy and the other half of the time, it didn't. I have heard after the age of two they are more accurate....we'll see.
I have to say, with all of the problems we have had along the way with doctors.. especially specialists.. I just love his Pediatrician and her willingness to help my Matthew in any way she can. I know that's her job, but it's sure nice to know that she takes it seriously.
I do have a question for those of you who have had the genetic testing... Well, is there anything we should know about it? Is it likely to be accurate after being off of gluten nearly a year later? Some of you may have mentioned it in the past, however my mind is drawing a blank. I only remember hearing good things about it.
Anyways, thanks again for listening to me ramble. We don't have a date yet for the testing, but I'll post the results whenever we get them back.
God Bless,
Kristie |

Hi Kristie,
It's good to hear that Matthew's Ped is willing to help!
I don't know a great deal about the genetic testing...but...this test doesn't matter if you're GF or not. It just tests to see if he has the celiac genes (DQ2 or DQ8). DQ1 if found is more related to gluten sensitivty instead of Celiac. I know Jeannine was asking about genetic stuff too.
I think Stephanie has done more research on this...maybe she'll stop in add her 2 cents
Good luck with the testing! _________________ Al
