They came back "normal"
I called in to get them today, they will mail me a copy in a few days.
I was really hoping it was a positive, as strange as that sounds.
I didn't know that I should still be eating gluten at the time of the blood test, until I came here. I wasn't intentionaly avoiding it at that point, but I was so sick the only thing I could force myself to eat for a few weeks was apple sause and jello.
I am starting to feel better without gluten, so I am still not ruling this out.
But I still get brain fog on most days, (better than every day). I still have abdominal pain, not as bad. I still get bad swelling and bloating, though it was worse a few weeks ago.
I have started to get my appetite back, though not every day. I feel hungry maybe 3 times a week.
I guess time will tell.
In the meantime I am still scheduled for an upper GI and a gallbladder scan at the end of the week. And I made an appt today with an OB/GYN today, though I have to wait a month to get in.
I am not sure what else to rule out. I hope I continue to feel better every day being GF. I don't need an official diagnosis, just to feel better.
Thanks for reading my ramblings..... |

Hi CRH,
Sorry to hear you don't have an answer. Wanting an answer is not a strange thing to ask for All to often people like us would prefer the results to be positive just to get an answer. As it stands right now, the docs say you don't have celiac disease [which may be true by todays definition]. I am glad that you are not ruling out gluten yet.
All of your symptoms [brain fog, abdominal pain, etc] can take some time to disappear once GF [if gluten is really your problem]. Everybody is different in how they react or respond to the GF diet. Many people will start to notice an improvement/changes [not 100%] in a week or two. Typically, celiacs that present with Big D - will notice an improvement in that pretty quickly. However, I wonder if you're like many and have Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity. The outcome is still the same [GF for life], but it's a matter of figuring it all out. Many in the medical profession do not know about or even recognize NCGS.
Of course it's possible there are other food issues too.
I understand completely about just wanting to feel better. Been there done that!!
Good luck with your other tests. Please keep us updated!! _________________ Al
