The current plan is indeed to use the lockers just outside the gate. I think for lunch the kids will all be eating together OUTSIDE the park, so Rebecca will be with them eating the lunch she brings. At dinner time though, they will have to take her back out to the lockers while everyone else stays inside to eat the park food.
I will have a doctor's note and I assume that they will try to get her food in with them, but if they are stopped, it will be back to the lockers.
I think for me this is less an issue of the logistics which will surely work out in some fashion, and more a matter of being able to trust other adults to take care of my child. Rebecca was a picky eater even before she was diagnosed, and if she is uncomfortable or does not like the food she simply won't eat at all.
This of course makes me anxious - and all the more so since her older brother has always been the kind of kid who will eat anything and everything that you put in front of him.
Well - this will be a good experience/experiment for all of us.
I'll be sure to let you all know how it goes when she gets back with the full story on Wednesday evening! _________________ Amy - Mom to two kids, one with Celiac, and assorted pets... |
