I tried to post this a moment ago but it doesn't look like it took. If it did I apologize for the repeat. Anyway, I am going to a workshop in Bellevue WA for three days, but in the evening I will be staying in the Seattle area. Being a newbie and just now starting to get my symptoms under a little bit of control, this whole trip scares me. The last thing I want to happen is to be glutened and be sick at the workshop and so far from home. Do any of you veterans have any suggestions of what I could prepare that doesn't need refrigeration (I will have access to a fridge and stove in the evenings) or what restaurants in the area might be safe to eat at. I will probably need at least two meals a day or at least one meal and a good filling snack as the workshop is an all day event and I won't get home until late evening. Thanks in advance for any tips or suggestions. |

Sorry - I didn't see your post the last time, or I would have responded. I live about an hour South of Bellevue. What part of town will you be in? Is your conference at the Meydenbauer Center, or at one of the hotels? There is a beautiful Whole Foods in Bellevue on NE 8th, there is a Chilis on the east side of town. There is also an Outback. If you have access to a stove/fridge, I think whole foods would be your best bet. _________________ -Colleen

Bellevue Square mall has a PF Chang's and a Z Tejas. Both have Gluten Free menus. The mall is west of the center. The Whole Foods in Bellevue is totally great. They helped me so much after diagnosis. Really good selections of stuff to eat. The even have a good selection of snacks and protein bars that are gluten free. You will eat like a king there! The Whole Foods is on NE 8th just east of I-405 and the center.
Local Chain Taco Del Mar is Celiac Friendly too. Look for a link I posted on them in this forum.
Enjoy your visit!! |

I will be at the Botanical Gardens in Bellevue. I do not know Bellevue very well. Does anyone know where that is in relation to Bellevue Square or the Whole Foods Store? _________________ Connie

The botanical gardens is quite close to Whole Foods/Bel Square. Here are the directions from mapquest from the gardens to whole foods:
Total Est. Time: 3 minutes Total Est. Distance: 1.00 miles
1: Start out going WEST on MAIN ST toward 118TH AVE SE. 0.1 miles
2: Turn LEFT onto SE 1ST ST. 0.1 miles
3: Turn RIGHT onto 116TH AVE SE. 0.6 miles
4: End at 888 116th Ave Ne
Bellevue, WA 98004-4607, US
If you want to go to the mall from Whole Foods, just go west on NE 8th and you will run right into it. It is maybe half of a mile from there.

I guess Bellevue Botanical Gardens have a lights display composed of beautifully crafted garden flowers during the holidays. My friend went and later discovered that they have classes that you can take to learn how to make the flowers for your own home. I am afraid of heights and hubby is tired of putting up lights so I thought I would go and learn to create a lighted flower garden for the Winter months. My flower gardens always look so sad this time of year. Anyway, Thank you so much for your tips. I haven't had to sack lunch it or dine out or at anyone else's house since I discovered that I have Celiacs. This trip I will have to do it all, all in the same weekend. _________________ Connie
